Indonesian
Yield: Serves: 20 people
Ingredients:
1 liter coconut milk
43 grams smooth peanut butter
125 grams dark soy sauce
150 grams brown sugar
20 grams chili oil (optional)
20 grams onion powder
45 grams lime juice
Instructions:
1. Shake the coconut milk well until it becomes smooth and well blended.
2. Pour the coconut milk, peanut butter, soy sauce, brown sugar, chili oil, and onion powder into a saucepan. Heat gently while stirring continuously until the mixture is well warmed and combined.
3. The mixture should not boil; it only needs to be heated enough to thicken slightly.
4. Once the sauce has thickened, remove it from the heat and stir in the lime juice. I used juice from about half a lime, but you can adjust the amount to your taste.
5. Serve the sauce warm or store it in the refrigerator—it can also be enjoyed cold.
6. Enjoy your meal!
Tips:
This sauce can be gently reheated the next day.
Store the sauce in a sealed container in the refrigerator; it stays good for 4–5 days.
